My name is Yashika Nng. I’m majoring in Political Science and Economics and want to work in government in the future. If you know me, you know I’m a constant flow of new ideas. I look forward to taking my ideas and implementing them should I be your next MSC Freshman Rep.

————— Experience ————

I served as my senior class’ student government Lead Event Coordinator. That meant I was head of leading events like Senior Sunset, Senior Barbeque, Senior Night, Senior Sunrise, and many more. This also entailed hosting events to FUND these things and LISTENING to the asks of my constituents. The event and class management skills I obtained in this position are directly transferable to being YOUR freshman rep 🙌

I also served as the Deputy Events Coordinator at the nonprofit WeTheStudents in which❗ 500+ students attended events across TWO DOZEN NYC high schools❗ So, connecting people over different schools is my REALM! 🦁

On top of connecting my young peers and bridging gaps, I’m a former NYCVotes’ Youth Ambassador (got to meet the mayoral candidates!! yay!), led three clubs at my high school, am a part of the APA Voice LEAD program for Queens College, and am also an intern at the Coalition for Asian American Children and Families! Advocacy and leadership are deeply important to me.

→ Making friends is hard? I’ll host bimonthly mixers and social events to foster community
→ Boring gaps between classes? New board games, activities, and gatherings in Honors Lounge
→ Need community service? Creating opportunities for MHC QC students to volunteer for causes important to them!
→ Need to network? Events with faculty, job professionals, and speakers because bridging the gap between students isn’t all, faculty connections are also on my list.
→ Expensive College Life? Advocate for MHC OMNYs and Macbook!!
→ Campus questions? Providing resources and being a point-of-help

Advocating for people is my passion. I want to work in government in the future and so this role feels personal to me. I’ve been in some form of leadership role for the past three years and representing people and improving their space is very important to me. What does it mean to represent someone? I don’t think it means speaking for people without first asking what they want. I think representing means listening first, advocating second, and then following through. My name is Aiden Moloney, and it is with great pleasure and excitement that I announce my campaign to represent the Macaulay Honors students of Queens College.

I’ve had the opportunity to be involved in a lot of different communities, from theater and choir to Model UN, and I’ve also served as a Sunday school teacher and retreat leader. Each of these experiences has taught me something different about working with people, communicating, and being part of a community. And I think those experiences have shaped the kind of representative I want to be.

I believe that a representative should never be above the people they represent. I want to be someone who truly listens to the concerns of our community, and I want to be transparent about what is going on within the Macaulay Honors student council. Our class deserves to know about the potential options for events, and you should be able to choose what you want from your college experience. That is why, when I am elected, I will send weekly emails to all students where you can share concerns and suggestions. I will also summarize what is discussed during Macaulay Scholars Council meetings and include polls so that you can help determine what direction I advocate for. In addition, I will investigate why the program stopped providing students with laptops, and I will work diligently to find potential solutions so our class and future classes can have access to laptops from the Macaulay Honors College. I want my term to be one of transparency, honesty, and community.

I like to believe that we are all in this together as one class of 2030. We are all trying our best to figure out Queens College and the Macaulay Honors Program as we make this transition. Hey everyone! I’m Justin, and I’m running to represent the Queens College Class of 2030 on the Macaulay Scholars Council.

A lot of how I learned to lead came from attending the United States Naval Academy Summer Seminar. That experience taught me that leadership isn’t about having a title or being the loudest person in the room. It’s about showing up, listening, and being someone people can count on.
I’ve carried that with me into my second year as an NYC Parks lifeguard, working at pools across Queens and making more than four saves this summer. I’ve also had the chance to teach financial literacy, volunteer, mentor, and take on opportunities that have pushed me outside my comfort zone.
But at Macaulay, I’m a student just like you. I’m starting these next four years, meeting new people, figuring things out, and trying to make the most of every opportunity we have. That’s why I’m running.

What I want to work on….

Make opportunities easier to find.
Macaulay and CUNY have so much to offer, from internships and scholarships to research, fellowships, study abroad, and career programs. I want our class to have an easier way to find and share these opportunities early, not hear about them after the deadline.

Bring Macaulay closer together.
We’re part of a community across eight campuses. I want more inter-campus events, outings, competitions, and opportunities for us to actually get to know each other and make Macaulay feel like one community.

Make sure Queens has a voice.
Most importantly, I want to hear from you. I don’t want to pretend I already know everything our class wants. If you have an idea, concern, event you want to see, or something you think Macaulay could do better, come talk to me. I’ll bring it to the Scholars Council and actually follow up.

And seriously, you can come talk to me about more than MSC. Ask me about USNA, lifeguarding, opportunities, college, or any of the stories I’ve picked up along the way. If you need help, advice, or just someone to talk to, I’ll be here.
We only get four years at Macaulay. I want us to make the most of them together.

࣪˖➹ MY EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

In high school, I’ve had a lot of opportunities to get involved in my school community, from serving as a class representative in the school Senate for 3 years to being the editor-in-chief of the yearbook. These experiences taught me how important communication, transparency, and actually listening to people are. I’ve had the chance to advocate for my peers, including working with my school to address student concerns about the cafeteria, which led to marked improvement in the cleanliness of the space and encouraged students to be more mindful about properly sorting and disposing of their trash and recycling.

I am excited to make a positive difference in the Macaulay community, and here are some of the things I’d like to push for!
– Bringing back MacBooks
– Greater transportation resources, including my support for OMNY cards for every CUNY/Macaulay student
– More selection on Macaulay merch
– Expanded test prep opportunities such as the MCAT to include underclassmen, as well as increased number of available spots for this opportunity across all Macaulay classes
– Communication channels/feedback forms, and monthly meetings you as Macaulay Queens students can attend to keep us connected
– “Lock-In Mode” study nights, featuring designated silent and collaborative spaces, easy sign ups, and snack stations to fuel us through midterms and finals
– Increased inter-campus mixers: in a school that can sometimes feel incredibly divided across the many home campuses in the CUNY system, these social events give us a reason to hangout and turn the close friendships we began to foster online into real memories
– More mental health resources and activities throughout the year to destress and chill
And I have so much more in store 🙂

Through my experiences, I’ve learned something important: it’s not enough for students to be heard—your voice has to actually lead to action. That’s what I want to keep pushing for. More communication. More follow-through. More attention to what you actually want, and not just what’s easiest. I’m running to make sure our class doesn’t get overlooked. To make sure your voice doesn’t get lost in the system.

Macaulay is more than a collection of separate campuses. It’s a community, and I want to help that community feel more connected, supported, and heard.

Hello everyone!! My name is Vienna, and I am looking for your vote as the Queens College Macaulay Honors Class of 2030 Scholars Representative!
Throughout my time in high school, I have been in charge of numerous leadership responsibilities, such as being a council member of the National Art Honors Society. This job required me to host volunteer events, workshops, and fundraisers for the art department. Additionally, my time spent as a retreat leader has allowed me to develop numerous leadership qualities that are extremely beneficial for that of a scholars representative, such as public speaking, clear communication, taking accountability and responsibility for those around me, and empathy for tough situations, such as sensitive topics of discussion during our retreats. On top of that, I have been working in retail and food service businesses for 2 years. Having this work experience has caused me to develop strong and meaningful life skills, such as time management, money management, customer service/people skills, and resilience. All of these qualities lead me to be the strongest candidate as the Class of 2030’s Scholar’s Representative!
The ideas, opinions, and feelings of my class are what matter to me most. As your Scholars Representative, I promise to hold myself and other’s to the utmost standard, serving my class whichever way I can. I plan on holding an open mind for any possible ideas, concerns, and change in our school community. One of my main goals I would like to achieve as your Scholars Representative is to possibly start a fundraiser for QC Macaulay Honors students to receive an OMNI card for transportation to the Macualay Honors Building in Manhattan. The ideas I have in mind for fundraising can be done through:

Bake Sales
Pop-up thrift shops on campus
Partnering up with local, small businesses such as restaurants or arcades
Car Washes
Raffles
Sports Torments
(I am absolutely open to accepting many more ideas for fundraisers!!)

Being a part of your school community is one of the easiest, most effective ways to build lasting connections, memories, and relationships. I want to push to remove some of these barriers that I have noticed within my class. Transportation, I have noticed, is one of the biggest obstacles for Queens College students to get more involved with the Macaulay Honors Student Life.
