Hello everyone!! My name is Vienna, and I am looking for your vote as the Queens College Macaulay Honors Class of 2030 Scholars Representative!
Throughout my time in high school, I have been in charge of numerous leadership responsibilities, such as being a council member of the National Art Honors Society. This job required me to host volunteer events, workshops, and fundraisers for the art department. Additionally, my time spent as a retreat leader has allowed me to develop numerous leadership qualities that are extremely beneficial for that of a scholars representative, such as public speaking, clear communication, taking accountability and responsibility for those around me, and empathy for tough situations, such as sensitive topics of discussion during our retreats. On top of that, I have been working in retail and food service businesses for 2 years. Having this work experience has caused me to develop strong and meaningful life skills, such as time management, money management, customer service/people skills, and resilience. All of these qualities lead me to be the strongest candidate as the Class of 2030’s Scholar’s Representative!
The ideas, opinions, and feelings of my class are what matter to me most. As your Scholars Representative, I promise to hold myself and other’s to the utmost standard, serving my class whichever way I can. I plan on holding an open mind for any possible ideas, concerns, and change in our school community. One of my main goals I would like to achieve as your Scholars Representative is to possibly start a fundraiser for QC Macaulay Honors students to receive an OMNI card for transportation to the Macualay Honors Building in Manhattan. The ideas I have in mind for fundraising can be done through:
Bake Sales
Pop-up thrift shops on campus
Partnering up with local, small businesses such as restaurants or arcades
Car Washes
Raffles
Sports Torments
(I am absolutely open to accepting many more ideas for fundraisers!!)
Being a part of your school community is one of the easiest, most effective ways to build lasting connections, memories, and relationships. I want to push to remove some of these barriers that I have noticed within my class. Transportation, I have noticed, is one of the biggest obstacles for Queens College students to get more involved with the Macaulay Honors Student Life. With your support, we can create change and push for better for our class!!
