Hi Macaulay students! My name is Kaitlyn, and I’m running to be your Macaulay Queens Class of 2030 Scholars Representative!
࣪˖➹ MY EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
In high school, I’ve had a lot of opportunities to get involved in my school community, from serving as a class representative in the school Senate for 3 years to being the editor-in-chief of the yearbook. These experiences taught me how important communication, transparency, and actually listening to people are. I’ve had the chance to advocate for my peers, including working with my school to address student concerns about the cafeteria, which led to marked improvement in the cleanliness of the space and encouraged students to be more mindful about properly sorting and disposing of their trash and recycling.
࣪˖➹ MY CAMPAIGN
I am excited to make a positive difference in the Macaulay community, and here are some of the things I’d like to push for!
– Bringing back MacBooks
– Greater transportation resources, including my support for OMNY cards for every CUNY/Macaulay student
– More selection on Macaulay merch
– Expanded test prep opportunities such as the MCAT to include underclassmen, as well as increased number of available spots for this opportunity across all Macaulay classes
– Communication channels/feedback forms, and monthly meetings you as Macaulay Queens students can attend to keep us connected
– “Lock-In Mode” study nights, featuring designated silent and collaborative spaces, easy sign ups, and snack stations to fuel us through midterms and finals
– Increased inter-campus mixers: in a school that can sometimes feel incredibly divided across the many home campuses in the CUNY system, these social events give us a reason to hangout and turn the close friendships we began to foster online into real memories
– More mental health resources and activities throughout the year to destress and chill
And I have so much more in store 🙂
࣪˖➹ WHY I WANT YOUR VOTE
Through my experiences, I’ve learned something important: it’s not enough for students to be heard—your voice has to actually lead to action. That’s what I want to keep pushing for. More communication. More follow-through. More attention to what you actually want, and not just what’s easiest. I’m running to make sure our class doesn’t get overlooked. To make sure your voice doesn’t get lost in the system.
Macaulay is more than a collection of separate campuses. It’s a community, and I want to help that community feel more connected, supported, and heard.
It is my honor to be considered as a candidate in this election, and I sincerely hope that I’ll have your vote.
