Hi everyone!! My name is Susan and I am thrilled to be running for president for the upcoming school year 🙂

For those who don’t know, I came onto the council on a three-way tie—and most of the reps here were actually there to hear that speech!! In it, I talked about being a big believer in showing, not just telling—passing around my little pink flyers to share not just why I’d be a great fit on council, but the kind of person I am. Thank you to everyone who voted and gave me the chance to prove myself. And if you’re new—welcome to MSC! Let me tell you why I’d make a great president.

Over the past two years, I’ve become deeply involved—not just in MSC but across the Macaulay community. Through restorative justice, I learned how to navigate conflict and create spaces where people feel safe and heard. In the Collaborative Wellness Project, I gained hands-on experience planning events that genuinely bring students together—while figuring out how to promote them in ways that make people actually want to show up. These are the kinds of leadership and communication skills I’d bring to the role of president to support both the e-board and every member of this council.

On MSC, I’ve won Shakira twice and in doing so, I saw an opportunity to create a Shakira for e-board! With the help of Selina, we were able to introduce Jake:)) Additionally, I have shown my ability to coordinate, plan, and collaborate with the Funko Pops gifts last year. I’ve also had the privilege to represent MSC at the Women’s Leadership Conference in March.

Through DFA, I’ve also been working closely with the Deans on the three prototypes that we spent hours workshopping using all the feedback from MHC students
1) We know that a lot of students in MHC are pre-health, so we are setting up a direct program for MHC students to be able to explore shadowing opportunities with NewYork-Presbyterian
2) We also know the importance of networking for not just MHC students, but alumni. So we are trying to expand alumni connections and build an app where current students are able to be mentored by alumni while also supporting alum’s post-grad.
3) Our last goal is to add more greenery and even start a community garden here at MHC.
If elected, one of my priorities will be creating semester check-ins with everyone on council (text messages, coffee chats, etc) and ensuring every committee is engaged and contributing.

Additionally, I hope to support our incoming freshman reps, whether it’s showing them how to use Club Macaulay to email their cohorts or even using tax-exempt forms. I believe in a council where work is shared, voices are heard, and leadership is accountable. Although I cannot promise stipends (yet), I promise to show up and support everything this council does. Whether it’s a community service event or a movie night on Valentines, you can count on me to show up.

If you want someone who listens, follows through, encourages you to dream big, and genuinely loves this community–I’d be honored to have your vote.
