Hi Macaulay Hawks! 🦅
My name is Julia, and I’m running to represent YOU as your 2030 MSC Representative for Hunter College!
A little about me: I’m a freshman at Macaulay Hunter, I’m from Staten Island (I still consider myself a true New Yorker), and I’m Egyptian-American (still upset about the World Cup😔). When I’m not running between classes, you can usually find me listening to music, watching movies or TV shows, hanging out with my friends and family, or finding an excuse to get food somewhere in the city.
What do I want to do as your 2030 Rep?
I want to advocate for better mental health resources and support for students. Mental health advocacy has been a huge part of my work, and I want to continue making sure students know about the resources available to them and feel comfortable asking for help. Whether that means greater awareness, stronger peer-to-peer support, or making resources easier to access, I want to make sure student voices are part of the conversation.
I also want to advocate for greater investment in OMNY cards and transportation support for Macaulay and CUNY students. As someone from Staten Island, I really understand how quickly those transportation fees add up. Between the ferry, the subway, and somehow always needing to go somewhere else in the city, my OMNY card deserves its own scholarship at this point 😭. Transportation shouldn’t be another barrier students have to worry about.
How have I been a leader in the past?
Throughout high school, I spent four years in my school’s student government, where I learned the importance of listening to students and turning their concerns into action. Through CSAC, I represented students from across NYC and focused heavily on mental health advocacy, including stronger peer-to-peer support and greater awareness of available resources.
As a student representative on the PEP, I also had the opportunity to bring the student perspective directly into conversations about education and policy. These experiences taught me that being a representative isn’t just about speaking for students. It’s about listening to them first.
Whether you have a big idea, a small concern, or just need someone to say, “Wait, you’re actually so right,” I want to be that person.
Macaulay is more than an honors program. It’s a community, and I want to help make sure every student feels heard, included, and supported.
