Hello my fellow Macaulay mountain lions!! My name is Alex Rodriguez, and I would be honored to receive your vote to represent Macaulay at CSI!!!
Born and raised in Staten Island, I’ve gained lots of experience in leadership and service through initiative. I’ve always made sure people feel welcome in the communities I’ve been part of, and the ones I’ve built. In high school, I started the Hispanic Student Association, which is an after-school club that brought people of Hispanic descent together. This fostered a sense of community and belonging for those who felt overwhelmed by such a big and diverse school, which I could also do for Macaulay freshmen across the campuses. It also helped me network and build connections with non-profit organizations across all of NYC, building teams to
volunteer for different events and communities that I could bring to Macaulay CSI.
Through organizing toy drives, parades, cabarets, and fundraisers for local organizations, I’ve learned what it means to be a leader in my community, which is something I would love to do for Macaulay at CSI. Developing skills such as communication, organization, advocacy, and initiative have helped me create events out of nothing and benefit my community in any and every way I can. If selected as a representative, I will create volunteer opportunities for students, as well as networking events for students of all majors across the CSI campus.
If selected as a representative, I will make sure the opinions of the students of Macaulay CSI students are heard. Staten Island is often seen as the “forgotten borough”, but this couldn’t be farther from the truth. The amount of talent and hard work coming from the College of Saten Island is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. If selected to represent Macaulay CSI, I will work tirelessly to bring further opportunities to this amazing community that I have the absolute pleasure of being part of. Thank you!!!
