Hello my fellow Macaulay students! My name is Rianne Rodeo, and I’m excited to start my journey as an incoming freshman at Brooklyn College.
EXPERIENCE
Co-President of Drama Club (previously held roles of Secretary and Co-VP):
I’ve always loved acting and writing. For the club, I developed skill-building activities like improv dialogues in pairs and creating monologues from a single picture. I also arranged club events, such as our annual fundraising Showcase. But aside from administrative functions, I challenged our members to think outside the box about character and conflict, to use their own experiences, emotions, and thoughts to invent and innovate. There was nothing quite like the feeling of being on stage and crafting the art of theater together for our friends and family to see.
Team Captain of Girls Varsity Badminton:
Our school didn’t have a badminton team until my junior year. From the very start, I was so excited to join and do my best for the team. Even before I was officially named captain, I handled administrative tasks, working directly with our Coach and Athletics Director. Alongside my co-captain, I led practices and designed training routines during the season to ensure that our starters and managers were prepared, physically and mentally. I grew up playing badminton and learned to approach the sport with seriousness and competitiveness. Although the sport can be demanding, it was incredibly rewarding to play with the team I grew to love. It was a great honor to lead what was once a fresh, new group into the PSAL Quarterfinals in just our second year.
WHY I WANT YOUR VOTE
Positive progression requires goal-oriented thinking, active effort, and a touch of creativity. Allow me to be the passionate voice that advocates for the wants and needs of our campus community. I am committed to improving student life by addressing key issues such as the improvement of campus facilities, expanding mental health resources, providing academic support, and creating more meaningful student engagement opportunities. Initiatives such as wellness stations around campus—including seating, fidgets, stress relief items, and snacks—will offer students accessible resources to recharge and promote well-being, especially near exam season.
As your Macaulay Scholars Council Representative, my goal is to connect with students personally, listening to your concerns and working together to find creative, practical solutions that reflect our collective needs. By prioritizing open communication and innovation, we can build a vibrant, inclusive community where every voice is heard and valued.
