My name is Michelle and I am excited to represent John Jay in the larger Macaulay Honors community!
I am passionate about creating an enjoyable culture for students to engage in initiatives and social events.
Making our college environment a place where everyone feels connected and inspired is my mission as a scholars council nominee.
Most importantly, I want your ideas to be at the forefront of council decisions. I’ve spent the past four years building experience as an advocate for the NYC Outward Bound Advisory Council. Being a student advisor has undoubtedly taught me how to listen to peers, gather their concerns, and turn those conversations into meaningful initiatives. Through projects like the Groundswell NYC mural, I’ve learned how creativity and collaboration can build pride and unity within a community. I am eager to build similar opportunities for collaboration and pride here at Macaulay with our cohort! 🩵
Instead of spotlighting myself, at the core I prioritize unifying our community.
As a representative— I commit to action. I want to make sure our council isn’t just maintaining traditions but also pushing for changes that reflect what students actually need and want. That means advocating for practical support like transportation coverage or assistance with required books and class materials, so no one feels left behind. It also means adding excitement to our community through things like free merch, expanding existing clubs, and creating new ones based on student interests. This can include fitness, psychology, or forensics (Just to list a few suggestions received from John Jay Macaulay students 😊). Most importantly, I’d love to create more opportunities for us to connect across different Macaulay campuses, so we can build relationships and share experiences with peers outside of John Jay. By listening to your ideas and turning them into real initiatives, I hope to help make Macaulay an even more inclusive, connected, and supportive space.
Ultimately, I am dedicated to putting in the work to guarantee us a great freshman year and connection to our college.
