Hi everyone!
My name is Jayla Hall Cabrera, and I’m excited to be running for Macaulay Student Council. I recently graduated as Salutatorian of my high school, where I balanced a 4.0 GPA alongside internships at JPMorganChase, Warby Parker, and Webnovel where I took on leadership roles.
Beyond academics, I’m passionate about creativity and community. As a YA author and illustrator, I published my debut novel, Greenville, during my senior year of high school. Which is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Mascot Books, and more. Aside from my book, I have been published in over ten book collections.
Sharing my writing has given me opportunities to read at venues like The Powerhouse Arena and the Marian Anderson Theatre, and even to return to my schools as a guest speaker.
I believe Macaulay is a place where our voices, passions, and experiences can allow us to be the change we want to see in this world. If elected, I’ll work to make sure our council reflects the diversity and ambition of our student body while also ensuring to create spaces where everyone feels seen and supported.
If you’d like to learn more or connect, you can find me on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/jayla-hc, or through my book’s website: https://greenville.my.canva.site/.
I’d be honored to have your vote!
