Hello everyone! My name is Fida Fazilatun, and I am a freshman at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
In high school, I was always dedicated to serving my community, and I hope to bring my experience and skills to Macaulay and John Jay as well! As the director of compost for my school’s environmental club, I revived events like the Compost for Cookies Competition, which was used to nurture our garden and create a friendly, fun competition among all grade levels. I also served as treasurer for the Muslim Student Association, where I helped by overseeing the budget and planning events such as Arts and Crafts Night and the Eid Al Fitr Potluck, which brought a diverse array of students together.
Outside of school, I was always involved in community service projects such as the Parkchester School Supply Drive that helped younger students gain access to necessary supplies like bags, pencils, and notebooks, which earned me the Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for Community Leadership and Dedication from Congressman Ritchie Torres. Additionally, I am a proud member of UNA-USA Westchester Chapter, and I recently attended the Global Engagement Summit and Earth Day Celebration, where I promoted my advocacy for Environmental Conservation. 🌳🌎

As a candidate for Macaulay’s Scholars Council, I aim to help create engaging opportunities for all students across Macaulay, especially in John Jay. The main focus of my campaign will be promoting events that aim to bring environmental awareness and sustainable practices. I hope to blend my personal goals regarding conservation with the idea of promoting connection among all students in Macaulay. 💙❤️
I am passionate about the fact that the ultimate way to receive a well-rounded college experience is to always stay involved. So far, I am really impressed with my peers at John Jay for their dedication to being a part of the Macaulay community, and I hope to give back to them by ensuring that their needs are always met and represented on the Scholars Council. I am always eager to know my peers on a deeper level, and I believe that combining my enthusiasm for this position with my more practical skills in web design, public speaking, and event planning will serve Macaulay and John Jay in the best way possible. 🫡
