Hiii, my name is Talysha, and I am very happy that you even took the time to read what I have to say. A little bit about myself: I am majoring in Neuroscience, and I was born in Puerto Rico to Colombian parents. It seems to run in my family that we love traveling long distances, so I decided to take on a commute from the Bronx to Queens (2 hours). The one borough (apart from Staten Island) that doesn’t have a direct line into Queens.
My goal is to really advocate for free MetroCards in the best way I can. I will at least try, so your commute doesn’t have to break the bank. I’ve had some leadership roles, including being Vice President of a school club called The Thinking Club, where we thought about and discussed important global issues. But here, if I were chosen for this role, I would do a little more than just thinking. I would take a more hands-on approach that actually makes a difference for us students.

Hello Macaulay Class of 2029! My name is Jaicee and I am running to represent Queens College in the Macaulay Scholars Council.

I’m sure we can all agree these past few weeks have been a rollercoaster of emotions. I was pretty anxious on that first day of orientation, but after meeting brilliant students and staff and learning about the endless opportunities Macaulay offers, I left feeling inspired and motivated to contribute to this community.

Being part of the Macaulay cohort at Queens College is something I’m deeply grateful for, and I hope to give back by representing our campus on the Macaulay Scholar’s Council. While I’m naturally more introverted, I believe that it can be a valuable perspective in leadership, allowing me to fulfill the role with humility and thoughtfulness. I aim to create a welcoming space where every student feels comfortable sharing their ideas and confident that their concerns matter.

Last year, I participated in Townsend Harris High School’s Humanities Symposium at Queens College, where my group won the Best Research Award. Collaborating with a team, presenting in front of a packed auditorium, and succeeding together taught me lessons that I believe are important in a representative.

As representative I would like to advocate for events that uphold principals of both Macaulay and Queens College; embracing our diversity, curiosity, education, and servitude. In the end, the representative’s main job will be to represent you and your voice to make Macaulay the program and experience you want it to be. Hello Macaulay Scholars!
My name is Saheras and I am a first-year student at Queens College.

As a new student myself, I understand the struggle that comes with adapting to an unfamiliar environment while being surrounded with faces you may not recognize. However, if elected as the Freshman Representative, I promise to listen to your concerns and act accordingly to improve your Macaulay experience. One way I plan on achieving this goal is by creating events where the students at this campus can form meaningful connections with not only each other, but also with fellow Macaulay scholars at the other campuses as well.

Back in high school, I delivered presentations to the student body that were about reliable strategies that can help them regulate their stress. I also have extensive experience with leading cohort meetings that were aimed at teaching student researchers how to maximize the benefits they would gain from the research program they were attending. Although I may be slightly lacking, with your vote, I guarantee that I will work my hardest to make your time at Macaulay both fulfilling and enjoyable.

My name is Prionty Wahid Ava, and I’m a first-year at Queens College running for Freshman Representative.

I’ve heard from many of you that we want stronger connections, more resources, and more opportunities as a community. If elected, I’ll advocate for smoother transitions into college, organize fun events at QC and across campuses, and push for more career fairs and internships—because let’s be real, we’re all broke college students who need that bag!

Back in high school, I served in student government, tackling issues like bullying, vaping and school cleanliness while also leading fundraisers and events. I learned how to listen, plan, and lead—and I’ll bring that same energy here.

Hello Macaulay Students!
My name is Christina Prekash, and I’m a freshman Economics major at Queens College. I know what it means to start over — I’ve attended schools in three different countries, and each time, I’ve had to find my people. That experience taught me how hard it can be to build a community — and how powerful it is when you do.
I’m ready to help create the kind of environment that’s inclusive, curious, and deeply connected. I may not come with a long list of leadership titles, but I come with belief in myself, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to grow into this role. I’m ready to build the skills I haven’t yet had the chance to develop and make our college experience truly memorable.
Like any good representative should, I listen — keenly and with care. One idea I hope to explore through Scholar’s Council is a skill-share Exchange: through this, students across eight campuses can host hands-on workshops in topics like Finance, design, coding or public speaking, depending on the popular majors of each college.
While I haven’t held official leadership roles yet, I have always stepped up when it mattered. At eleven, I helped raise money with a friend to organize a Christmas celebration with our flatmates — complete with cakes and snacks. That experience showed me the joy of bringing people together.
I’m stepping out of my comfort zone to run for Student Council, and I’m doing it with honesty, energy, a genuine desire to serve.
