Zara Gingishvili
Hey guys, my name is Zara Gingishvili, a Freshman here at Brooklyn College.
From a young age, I’ve believed that leadership isn’t about holding a title—it’s about listening, showing up, and making things happen. In high school, I was part of a specialized law program where I served as a gavel holder and liaison between students and faculty. Whether it was planning out-of-state trips, organizing school events, or having real conversations with classmates about what they needed both socially and academically—I learned the importance of advocacy through action.
I also served two years in student government as an event coordinator, where I got pretty good at turning ideas into reality (and making sure people had fun doing it). Outside of school, I ran a youth tutoring program in my neighborhood, and over four years, I dedicated hundreds of hours to community service through the FBI Explorers program, where I chaired the finance committee and helped plan everything from trips to Quantico to local service projects.
What drives me now is the same thing that drove me then: building community. If elected, I want to help create spaces where students feel connected, supported, and heard—whether it’s through meaningful events, new initiatives, or just being someone you can talk to.
I’m not here just to add something to my resume. I’m here because I care, and I want to be a part of shaping the kind of college experience we all deserve. As Macaulay students we worked so hard to get into the program that we’re in now so I would love to do a little bit of a legwork be a voice for us. Especially for those who don’t feel confident enough or ready to put their voice out there and you can ask anyone who knows me even just a little bit. I’m not afraid to put my voice out there. So if your concern is it’s about those like I’ve heard from students about broken tiles in Ingersoll hall, finding internships or just getting comfortable with the awkwardness of a brand new world. I’d love to be here for you guys.
