Ava Monaco
Hey Macaulay Bearcats! 🐾
My name is Ava Monaco, and I’m so excited to be running to represent Baruch in the Macaulay Scholars Council!! 🙂
As someone who thrives in team environments, I know firsthand the importance of transparency and democracy. I’m looking forward to establishing new ways for YOUR voices to be heard 🚨 and included in a clearer line of communication with your Council reps.
I’m a proven leader, but what’s more important is my focus on our community. As a 5-year Girl Scout 🍀, I was elected media liaison to speak on children’s rights at UNICEF headquarters and on multiple live TV stations with the CEO of the Scouts. As part of my Girl Scout Silver and Gold Awards, I worked with local schools to implement new STEM curricula 🧬 for grades K-6, earning nationwide recognition for my partnership with the National Wildlife Federation and the NY Dept. of Parks. 🌷
I’m diligent both in and out of academic settings. I played on five 🖐 sports teams throughout high school, captaining two of four soccer teams (one of which was a national squad where I represented the US in England), and winning Manhattan Championships for track. Now, I play for Baruch’s men’s soccer team. I don’t shy away from any play on the field, so I certainly won’t back down 🙅🏻♀️ when advocating for the needs of the Macaulay Baruch community.
My 1st and Feasible Step in Creating REAL CHANGE for you: I would work on revamping the career fairs 🧳, allowing students to request specific industries and companies and to make fairs more often and at more diverse times. I know a lot of us have that six hour Macaulay art block on Fridays, right in the middle of the upcoming events. And that’s usually when most of the Macaulay events happen, so how are we supposed to meet people from different campuses? I’d like to work towards more events between the campuses and beyond that, creating Macaulay-facilitated connections with alumni for students pursuing diverse career paths, not just people involved in the Macaulay Business Club.
If you’re reading this and are from a different campus, please check out your campus candidate running under MacaulayCast. We’re all running to win for YOU, for EVERYONE. #MacaulayCast
