As a new college student, I value being part of a community and Macaulay is a tight knit group of individuals who share a common goal, which is collectively joining others through professionalism, and a shared view on success as a whole.
Before serving as the President of the Spanish Club, I was very hesitant since I grew up in an Indian household and did not understand how my background would be beneficial to the needs of the Hispanic community. But by the end of the year, I realized how similarly both communities connect with each other, and made me respect each other’s differences.
As an intern at The New York Medical & Diagnostic Center, I had the ability to create meaningful relationships between the medical professionals and patients while also making sure to engage in clinical rotations regarding the patients treatment. Many people came with individual needs, which led me to create a core personality with the foundation of professionalism and care.
Volunteering at the Long Island Jewish Valley Stream Hospital always required a positive attitude, and a commitment to maintaining patient trust, which helped build my communications skills.
Through the Summer Youth Program of New York City, having experience as an assistant with the Business Improvement District, of Sutphin Blvd., Jamaica, I was able to coordinate projects and create reports related to solving environmental problems in construction materials, planned engineering, construction, and electrical and lighting projects.
These skills helped build the confidence of a high school student who learned how important it was to be a part of the community and understand the changes required as society grows.
