What’s up Mountain Lions! 🦁 I am Gerasimos, and I am running to represent Queens College (Go Knights! ⚔️ ) as your Macaulay Honors Class of 2030 Scholars Council Representative! I plan on engulfing a Biology major on the pre-med track, and when I’m not studying, I’ll be practicing bass.🎸 As soon as I heard I could become a voice for the Macaulay student body, I knew what I had to do.
While I may be inexperienced with student government, I can’t say the same with leadership. As captain of both my high school football and track teams, I’ve learned leadership is about always being there to communicate and motivate your peers. I want to use these skills to create a Macaulay community where every student feels that their concerns actually matter. 🤝
That same mentality is carried everywhere I go; libraries and schools that need volunteering? I’m there. Charity events that need a way to induce a crowd? My band is bringing all our instruments. 🎶 A clinic full of elderly people with spinal issues? I’m already asking a receptionist for a shadowing position. Strong communities are built when people actually show up for one another, and I promise to take any necessary risks to get the job done.
What do I want to do?
-Lead cross-campus group events 🗽
-Open Mic Nights 🎤
-Advocate for CUNY OMNY cards and the return of free MacBooks 🚇
-Research + Opportunity Exchanges 🔬
-Macaulay Tiny Desk — record and post student musicians’ sets 🎸
-Lead fundraisers for other communities ❤️
-Any suggestion that comes! 💡
If you think my ideas are cool, you should check out my other fellow members on the M Line! By running as a slate, we are able to decrease the gap between campuses. There’s power in numbers so we promise to create a more unified community and fight for the issues that affect all CUNY students including transportation, communication, finances, and making cuny a more memorable experience. Stay on the right track and if you’re from a different campus, please check out your campus candidate that’s running under The M Line!!!
I’m blessed to be considered for turning good ideas into something real. I hope I can receive your vote to forge a community connected through our experiences over the next four years. Vote Gerasimos Hatzigeorgiou for Queens College Macaulay Honors Class of 2030 Scholars Representative.🦁⚔️
