Salutations my fellow Macaulay Hawks!
College is a completely new territory, so it is no doubt we want our first year to be immaculate. Though a good leader is important, even then they would be nothing without an involved group. So when you are choosing me, you are also choosing yourself. I believe a good representative is someone who is not only outspoken, but someone who also knows when to listen and submerge themselves into your perspectives.
As an eldest daughter in a brown family, I know how to negotiate, advocate and be a support system all in one. So if it is a large concern or just a shoulder to lean on after a hard day of classes, I am the right person for it.
I know most of you don’t want to read a long list of the leadership roles and positions I have taken in high school😿, but I am also no stranger to leadership responsibilities and experience.
In short:
-Co-Founder and Co-President of Social Justice club (3 years); organized school wide campaign to spread awareness on recent hate towards south Asians in the online spaces
-Secretary of MSA (2 years); organized club meetings and school wide iftaar dinner
– Spoke about Asian American History and awareness in AYCAN; worked in classrooms to present and discuss concerns
-Worked with undergrad and grad students to advocate for protecting vulnerable population from air pollution and better policies and resources for them regarding Air Quality
-Helped campaign for a school-wide food drive through Queens Community House through Northwell JLC
