Hi Macaulay Class of 2030! My name is Ariyana and I’m a first-year Macaulay Honors student at Hunter College. Coming into Hunter, one of the biggest things I noticed was just how easy it can be to feel like one person in a school of thousands. Macaulay completely changes that. Whether it’s hanging out in the Macaulay lounge, meeting people at events, or simply recognizing the same faces around campus, I’ve already started to see how much of a difference having that smaller community makes. I want to help make that community even stronger.
If you know me, you know I’m not someone who likes to just sit on the sidelines. I love meeting new people, getting involved, coming up with ideas, and actually turning those ideas into something. I’ve founded my own tutoring business, taken on leadership and social media roles in different organizations, and worked as an EMT. They may seem like completely different experiences, but they’ve all taught me the same thing: how to work with people. I’ve learned how to listen, communicate, stay organized, think on my feet, and take responsibility when people are counting on me.
That’s the kind of representative I want to be for our class. I don’t want to assume I already know everything the Class of 2030 wants because we’ve barely started our first year. I want you to tell me. Whether it’s more social events, better ways to meet students from other Macaulay campuses, new opportunities, or an idea none of us has thought of yet, I want to be someone you feel comfortable bringing it to. More importantly, I want to be someone who will actually speak up for it.
We have four years ahead of us and we should make the most of them. I want us to build a Class of 2030 that knows each other, shows up for each other, and actually feels like a community. If you’re looking for someone who’s outgoing enough to hear from everyone, organized enough to follow through, and outspoken enough to represent us when it matters, I’d love to have your vote.
