HEY FELLOW MACAULAY STUDENTS!!!
My name is Noor Syar, and I’m a first-year student at City College majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
MY EXPERIENCE:
Leadership has always played a big role in shaping who I am. As president of my high school Robotics Club, I worked to create a welcoming environment where new members felt comfortable and supported, a value I hope to carry with me at City College. This past summer, I served as an advisor for a research program at NYU, where I mentored high school students in conducting their research and by being someone they could trust, talk to, and connect with. These experiences taught me how to lead by fostering meaningful connections, listening closely, and growing alongside my peers. I hope to foster these connections with you all at City College!
WHY I’M RUNNING:
Since City College is primarily a commuter school, it can sometimes feel harder to build real connections, as many of us are rushing to and from campus. That’s exactly why I’m running! I want to make sure our time at Macaulay feels more than just classes and commute. I want us to have spaces where we can get to know each other, whether it’s through casual hangouts, study groups, or fun events that give us a reason to stick around and enjoy campus life together.
When I first got to City College, the Macaulay Scholars Council made me feel like I belonged, and now I want to be that person for others. I want to help create a community where everyone feels included, supported, and heard, no matter how busy our schedules are.
MY PROMISE:
Whether it’s organizing events that bring us together, advocating for student needs, or simply being someone you can reach out to, I will always put our community first. I am here to listen, to problem-solve, and to represent YOU!!!
