I believe leadership is more than a title; it’s about showing up, speaking out, and standing with your community. My name is Ariyya Mohsin, Class of 2029, and that’s the kind of representative I strive to be. When my high school had no place for students to pray, I pushed to change that; an effort later recognized in The New York Times. Beyond religion, I’ve always worked to support my community in every way I can.
As Secretary and later Vice President of my school’s Muslim Student Association, I created interactive presentations, led planning and scheduling events with up to 200 students, parents and faculty and kept everything running smoothly with my team. Now, as a pre-med student and Certified Nursing Assistant, I’ve learned how to manage stress, work with diverse groups, and stay steady under pressure. My involvement in restorative justice, equity, and DEI initiatives has deepened my commitment to fairness and inclusion. And yes, I didn’t get the nickname “Shark” for nothing, I debate fiercely, but always to find solutions that uplift everyone.
Macaulay deserves leaders who act, not just hold positions. That’s the representative I strive to be, and I’d be honored to bring that same energy and determination to our Student Council.
