Hey everyone! I\u2019m Justin, and I\u2019m running to represent the Queens College Class of 2030 on the Macaulay Scholars Council.<\/p>\n
A lot of how I learned to lead came from attending the United States Naval Academy Summer Seminar. That experience taught me that leadership isn\u2019t about having a title or being the loudest person in the room. It\u2019s about showing up, listening, and being someone people can count on.
\nI\u2019ve carried that with me into my second year as an NYC Parks lifeguard, working at pools across Queens and making more than four saves this summer. I\u2019ve also had the chance to teach financial literacy, volunteer, mentor, and take on opportunities that have pushed me outside my comfort zone.
\nBut at Macaulay, I\u2019m a student just like you. I\u2019m starting these next four years, meeting new people, figuring things out, and trying to make the most of every opportunity we have. That\u2019s why I\u2019m running.<\/p>\n
What I want to work on\u2026.<\/p>\n
Make opportunities easier to find.
\nMacaulay and CUNY have so much to offer, from internships and scholarships to research, fellowships, study abroad, and career programs. I want our class to have an easier way to find and share these opportunities early, not hear about them after the deadline.<\/p>\n
Bring Macaulay closer together.
\nWe\u2019re part of a community across eight campuses. I want more inter-campus events, outings, competitions, and opportunities for us to actually get to know each other and make Macaulay feel like one community.<\/p>\n
Make sure Queens has a voice.
\nMost importantly, I want to hear from you. I don\u2019t want to pretend I already know everything our class wants. If you have an idea, concern, event you want to see, or something you think Macaulay could do better, come talk to me. I\u2019ll bring it to the Scholars Council and actually follow up.<\/p>\n
And seriously, you can come talk to me about more than MSC. Ask me about USNA, lifeguarding, opportunities, college, or any of the stories I\u2019ve picked up along the way. If you need help, advice, or just someone to talk to, I\u2019ll be here.
\nWe only get four years at Macaulay. I want us to make the most of them together.
