Traveling to:
\nAppalachian Trail Boardwalk (Appalachian National Scenic Trail, Glenwood, NJ 07418)
\nand Heaven Hill Farm: (451 NJ-94, Vernon Township, NJ 07462)<\/p>\n

For this semester, our goal is to hike a trail in New Jersey called The Stairway to Heaven on October 28th. Starting off our day, we will hike an easy boardwalk portion called the Pochuck Boardwalk, after which, we will go for a snack at Heaven Hill Farm where you can go get ice cream, souvenirs, or even go to the Great Pumpkin Festival for $25.99. Those who wish to do the Stairway to Heaven hike will leave Heaven Hill farm and begin the journey on The Stairway to Heaven.<\/p>\n

If you are planning to come on this trip, please arrive at the Macaulay Honors building (35 W 67th St, New York, NY 10023) by 9:00 AM on the 28th of October. The cost is $5 for Macaulay students and $10 for non-Macaulay CUNY students. Additionally, if you would like ice cream, souvenirs, or maybe even to attend the Great Pumpkin Festival, remember to bring some money with you ($35-40 if you plan on going to the festival, $10-15 if you plan on just getting ice cream and maybe a small souvenir), or a credit card. Food\/snacks from Heaven Hill farm will not be covered by Macaulay.<\/p>\n

Please be sure to bring strong shoes\/boots. In our previous hike in the Spring semester of 2023, many people brought very light-weight sneakers. This is a friendly reminder that this is a hike, NOT A WALK. Try and bring sturdier shoes made of stronger materials. If you can get a pair of hiking shoes, that would be best! The Stairway to Heaven hike is incredibly rocky and a poor choice of shoes may lead to injuries. If, however, you plan on simply walking the Pochuck Boardwalk, using sneakers is great as the boardwalk is mostly a wooden path with some parts being on dirt.<\/p>\n

Please be aware that all students will need to complete a Travel Waiver<\/a> prior to the event. We will have copies available when you arrive at Macaulay on 10\/28\/2023 at 9:00am.<\/p>\n

However if you are under 18<\/strong>, you will need to get the Travel Waiver<\/a> completed and notarized ahead of time.<\/p>\n

The Trip will happen rain or shine. If the event of heavy rain that makes the hike dangerous or unruly, we will shift to exploring Heaven Hill Farm and Boardwalk. There are several shops and eateries in the area.<\/p>\n
