When: Friday, March 6th, 2020, 11:00am-3:00pm.

About: SafeZone Training provides an opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to learn about the LGBTQ+ community through terminology, self-examination, discussion, and best practices. It teaches about some of the many struggles faced by the LGBTQ+ community and how we might better serve and welcome them on our campuses. Join us to learn how to facilitate this training on your campus. Materials will be provided.

Workshop Facilitator: Jeremiah Jurkiewicz is the LGBTQ Resource Center/Pluralism & Diversity Coordinator in the Office of Student Life at The College of Staten Island. He has conducted SafeZone Trainings for over 5 years for hundreds of faculty and staff and helped create a campus where students see SafeZone stickers and feel respected and welcomed as LGBTQ+ students. The College of Staten Island opened the first LGBTQ Resource Center at CUNY in 2012 and has since grown into a larger space and helps create community and provide support to our LGBTQ+ and ally students.
