Dismissal Appeals



Please refer to the Macaulay Student Handbook for more information and instructions. Appeals for dismissals received after the Spring 2026 semester are due on July 13, 2026 at 11:59 pm. Friedman students, please confirm your appeal deadline with Amorita Jones.

Per the Macaulay Student Handbook: Appeals must contain a statement from the student explaining the justification for the appeal. All of the specific points listed in the dismissal letter must be addressed in the student appeal letter.

    You may include documentation from health care providers and mental health professionals, documentation of major life events or disruptive experiences, and obstacles that impacted your academic performance. You may upload to to three separate documents. If you have more than three, you may combine them into a single PDF.

    Per the Macaulay Student Handbook: Any medical or practical difficulties or obstacles must be documented with objective evidence. Claims asserted in the appeal letter but not supported by documentation shall hold little or no weight in the appeals decision.

      You may upload up to three support statements in favor of your appeal. Support letters should include the name and email of the writer.

      Per the Macaulay Student Handbook: Appellants may also include letters of support from faculty, advisors, and others, and should certainly provide these letters if they will include information that will be helpful to the committee in considering the appeal.
